So,this year has brought some amazing things along with it already, and it's only April 1st! Although i can't always see it, a lot of great things have happened and i've come such a long way since i started out on my own, and i'm really really proud of myself and the work ive created over the last few months. Exhibiting at SEWN and launching my very own official website were just two highlights of the past three months, and i cant wait to see what else in store!

Anyhoo, to get on with it (so to speak) the reason i am writing this blog post is that I wanted to thank everyone for the overwhelming support over the past few years when i first made the choice that i wanted to be a designer! Therefore, i've organised my  biggest giveaway yet!!! To take part in this bonanza, head over to my Facebook Page now and follow the instructions!!!

Good luck :)

Long over due!

So, looking at the date of my last post, it seems I have been severely neglecting my poor blog! However, with some new and exciting things coming up, i'm sure i will have lots of interesting things to talk about. Over the Christmas break i had a lovely relax, spending time with friends and family and to be honest, procrastinating just a little bit! But now, its a new year (can you believe its 2014!?) and with that comes new work :) Over the next couple of weeks i shall be providing sneak peeks of my upcoming work and new collection. I also have lots of exciting events coming up soon, but for now i can reveal only one.......

My new website and online store!!

It's massively exciting for me to be able to share this news with you all! I've got a good friend, Kristie Hope, working alongside me to create the perfect website, for me, and of course more importantly you guys!! I'm incredibly lucky to know someone as lovely and amazingly talented as this woman, and believe me, your eyes are in for a treat on the first of March!!

Launching this site is a big big deal for me and my dreams!

No rest for the wicked!

So, during the past few weeks, i've been the busiest i've ever been! While getting a full time position at the company i worked part time at during university, i also signed my name to take part in a craft fair in Hart Village ran by King Crumpet. This meant working from 9 till 6 and then rushing home and spending the rest of my free time manicly creating new designs and making new pretty things to get my business started. However, i can't complain because I love what I do! (i'm just really looking forward to doing nothing for a night or two.....)

So! It's been a really hectic few weeks getting everything together and it really has finally all paid off. I took part in my first craft fair and it was much more successful than i thought it would be! It was really lovely to meet such lovely and talented people, and hear comments about my work.

Running up to the fair i was panicking about the amount of work i had been able to produce in the short time i had, but when it came to setting up my table i didn't even have enough space for everything i had brought! That gave me a huge boost of confidence because i'd been so worried about having a very empty, sad looking stall.

A lot of the customers had some lovely things to say about my work which is always really heart warming when you have worked hard at something you love. Unsurprisingly my glass wing necklaces where the most popular and i've ended up with only one left!

The other stall holders were incredibly talented and inspirational, and any money i made on my own stall i ended up going round and spending it on the other peoples work ! Two stall holders were Rachael Armstrong from PoppyCock Illustrations and Hannah Butler from King Crumpet . Heres some pics of them looking beautiful at their stalls - really sorry about the quality of the pics!

Their work is so quirky and cute! Keep an eye open for the talented duo in upcoming christmas events around hartlepool.

Now, not only was it my first ever craft fair but also my graduation!! I celebrated getting my Bachelor of Arts in Textiles and Surface Design in the Middlesbrough Town Hall. It was a great day, getting to see everyone from my course that i hadn't seen for months since our final show. It was really nice to end three of the most important years of my life with a great ceremony, and walking across that stage in front of all those people (although i was completely pooing myself!) I felt a lot better when my name was called out and i heard the full of the Applied Arts class and my family shouting WOOOOO!!! That was a good feeling :D

I feel so lucky to have such wonderful people in my life. The constant support and love I have received from my nearest and dearest, particularly Thomas Arnell, Emily Scott and Amy-Rose Tucker is really overwhelming. And believe me, I know i'm not the easiest person to live with!

A Very Productive Day!

Rosie CassonComment
So! The day finally came when enough of my products were finished and my friends were all off work at the same time. So I gathered up my 'Creative Team' and we got to work! Not all my products are done and dusted but I felt like I had enough to get me going for at least one shoot. As i get more finished I am planning on doing the photos as i go along, but I am so pleased with the outcome of our work today :)

Emily modeling Beetle earrings.

So! I got my friends Emily and Amy to model and co-direct the photo shoot with me, and I took the photographs on a camera that was generously lent to me by my friend Abby. The location we used was Emily's cottage and gardens up in Greatham just on the outskirts of our town, Hartlepool. We had such a good laugh and it was a good opportunity for us all to catch up as we are always working these days! It was great having two really creative people to help me along through the shoot with their ideas and suggestions.

Luckily, the weather really held up for us all day, and only started raining after we took the very last photograph! We all piled our clothes together and carefully chose the outfits to go with all the pieces of jewelry. I'm so pleased with how it all turned out, and relieved i finally have some material to finally get my website and Facebook page going. It's been so boring for all of my followers recently, just looking at the same photographs over and over again! Now i have some media to use i can finally get my website planned with the help of a good friend Kristie, and will hopefully get that up and running soon.

I'm really looking forward to releasing the photographs of the full shoot, but until it gets closer to the release of the collection (at the King Crumpet Hart Village fair, Nov 30th/Dec 1st) I am going to drip feed them onto my Facebook Page

I loved the Autumn feel of the location of the shoot, and it was exactly how i wanted it to be. I even got up the courage and modeled a small piece myself! Just for grins and chuckles.. :)

Final photographs will be released gradually over my Facebook Page, so make sure you give it a LIKE! and keep up with all the news and updates, including competitions coming soon :)

Upcoming Event!!

Rosie CassonComment
Well, I haven't posted in this space for a while, but i have good reasons! Recently acquired more hours at work (need more money to pay for fabrics and lovely things!) so I have been totally swamped. Of course, keeping up with my business after hours and still holding on to the dream that Rosebud Casson can one day be my full time job :)

Anyhoo! In the spirit of getting my name about and launching my work, I am taking part in a lovely craft fair in Hart Village, Hartlepool! It's going to be a lovely event, and even includes a baking competition judged by the Village Vicar! Come along to see my first OFFICIAL collection and get some stocking fillers for your loved ones :) It will be a great event to see some amazing local talent.

Butterfly surprise.....

Rosie CassonComment
Well, it turns out that I have the best friends and boyfriend! Not that I didn't already know this, but i was seriously overwhelmed by their thoughtfulness the other day. A few weeks ago i was having a bit of artists block, feeling uncomfortable with my work and every artist knows the stress this can cause is awful. So! My boyfriend Tom and friend Amy set out to create some secretive plans to cheer me up and give me inspiration! Tom told me there was a surprise coming, but i had no idea Amy was involved, and for the weeks leading up to it I hounded her with 'What could it be?!?!' 'I'm so intrigued!!!' little did I know she was keeping her mouth zipped all along!! Anyhoo, then surprise was Butterfly World!!!! And anyone knowing my work knows this could possibly be the biggest inspiration and research source in the north east :)

It was such a lovely day and we all had a lovely time. The butterflies in there are absolutely breathtaking, it's such a good activity for kids and enthusiasts alike. The best thing is that they literally just fly around your head, usually having a cheeky mate or searching for a tasty flower to feed on! Not only that, but you have other things to look for, a cute little Quail running around your feet and tiny colourful exotic birds flapping above your head :) There are even a few meercats to 'Awww!' at!

The Koi there are beautiful and even come right up to have a little nibble on your fingers.

I came out in such a good mood, full of inspiration and good feelings about my work so the whole day was definitely worth it. A little friend even came to sit on my head for a bit, which absolutely made my day!

After butterfly world, we had a good long walk along the grounds of Preston Park which was beautiful and very much Autumny, which i LOVE!! This gave me alot of inspiration and ideas on an upcoming photo shoot :)

Me, Tom and Amy. I really do feel lucky to have such thoughtful and lovely friends!

Happy Autumn!!

Rosie CassonComment
Well, hasn't this come round fast!!! Today is the 1st of October. This year really has flew by (although i think i say that every year..). I personally love Autumn. I love getting wrapped up in cardigans and winter coats and quite frankly my scarf collection is getting slightly out of hand....! Don't get me wrong, i love a nice little summer frock, but i'm much more comfortable wrapped up with as many layers i can before i start to sweat!!
Anyhoo, i am especially excited this Autumn as i am finally officially releasing my new collection !!! I don't want to give anything away too much, but things are getting exciting. Currently having meetings about supplies, laser cutting and even with a beautiful young model for when the collection is ready to photograph!! I am working very hard here at Rosebud Casson (with the help of my fluffy cats and plenty of green tea!) so keep an eye on this space :) For now, Happy First of October!

Experiencing Poppy Treffry

Rosie CassonComment
Well! The time came and went. After organizing it months in advance and believing it would never come around, it did! My two weeks working with Poppy Treffry were fab, and I have learnt so much just from being around the people who work there. The Business was set up by Poppy about 9 years ago, and nine years on she is still going strong with about nine lovely ladies under her employment and a studio full of vintage singers!
While i was there i was lucky enough to help out with one of Poppy's famous embroidery workshops, and people had come from far and wide to come and learn how to make something quirky and unique to take home with them. I think the person that had traveled the furthest was all the way from Belgium! It was a really good opportunity to see how she taught and managed a class of nine women, as I've always been interested in taking part in some workshops myself.

It was fab even just to see behind the scenes of a small to medium business, and very interesting to see all the little bits and bobs that add the finishing touches to the products. The workshop was full of little bits like tags, labels, wrap-arounds etc and it just shows you how the tiniest little touches really can make a business unique and effective.

At the end of my time there i got to sit down with Poppy and pick her brains a little bit! It was really interesting and inspiring to hear the story of her starting her business on her own, and then from there helping it grow and expand, employing various lovely ladies to help her out and then even acquiring her own little shop in St Ives! The whole experience was so so inspiring and i have so many ideas of my own to get me started.

For more info on Poppy Treffry visit her website at www.poppytreffry.co.uk and even treat yourself to one of her lovely products! For now it is up to me to get my nose to the grind and start my own work! My plan for now is to get as much work done as possible, i'll be churning illustrations out like a factory soon! (hopefully.....)

Hello!
I haven't updated in a while because i've been busy getting on with things and lets be honest, totally stressing ! But i guess thats part and parcel with the work i'm doing. I've been having loads of fun playing about with colours and designs and i really love the dusty pink teamed with the blues and greens below. So far i've almost finished two of my final designs and the next two are to be churned out soon enough! I have alot to do before the two weeks holidays for Easter, in which i will again have no life and be sat with my cats embroidering away watching Studio Ghibli films, but hey! I quite like it :)
I've also been getting into new techniques using the laser cutter and im really excited about the results i've been getting, so there will be an extra quirky element mixed into my final collection. Starting to get excited about the final exhibition but got a bit more to go before i can even start thinking about that.
